Fully restored to outstanding Lotus Cortina condition by Tiger Racing Ltd with a correct V5C and confirmed chassis number. Featured in the Spring 2021 issue of Classic Ford magazine just out (along with a Mk 1 Escort Twin Cam restored by Tiger Racing, also available from us).
New old stock parts were sourced from around the world at great time and cost, lights, indicators, window rubbers, door handles etc. With the date of registration, the car actually could have been either a leaf spring or a later “A” frame car and the owner decided to update to the more desirable “A” frame specification.
The shell unfortuantely remained unverified after a 2-hour ramp inspection by the Lotus Cars Register, possibly due to the restoration work undertaken. However, the main shell Lotus Cortina identifiers were/are present and the Register did confirm the quality of the restoration was a very high standard. The car underwent a ground up, bare metal restoration at considerable cost in the pursuit of perfection and originality and the car is in our opinion one of the best available. There is a CD with over 200 photos on the restoration of this Lotus.
The car comes with the original council registration record as the car was registered prior to the DVLA being formed and at the time, local council offices dealt with car registrations. The car also comes with a history file which includes all previous owner records.
You could not purchase and restore a car of this calibre for anywhere near the asking price.
